This seven-piece collection called The New Traditionalists is a partnership between Roxy Te, founder of Society Social and NYC-based designer Ariel Okin.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Digitally-native furniture company Society Social has launched a seven-piece collection, called The New Traditionalists, with New York interior designer Ariel Okin, which includes both upholstery and case goods.
“The first time I stumbled upon Ariel’s work it was the sight of gorgeous blue grasscloth, a simple raffia desk, crisply piped upholstery, and traditionalist touches of blue and white that stopped me in my tracks,” said Roxy Te, the founder of Society Social.
Okin is founder of Ariel Okin Interiors. She focuses on luxury residential and unique commercial properties. Her aesthetic ranges from traditional to contemporary and her recent designs include Goop’s New York City headquarters, Lena Dunham’s NYC apartment and Maisonette’s Brooklyn offices.
“Ariel had put a beautiful, fresh spin on the classics, a mission that has always been at the heart of what we do at Society Social. We connected in a modern way, via Instagram, chatting about everything from motherhood to design, and soon after the idea of our collection was born,” Te added.
Te and Okin say they are both equally passionate about marrying traditional design with stylish and affordable customization.
The collection includes an upholstered sofa inspired by designer Bunny Mellon’s estate in Antigua, a grasscloth upholstered coffee table that takes cues from the lines of Karl Springer’s iconic furniture, and a handmade rattan bookcase conceived with shelf height in mind.
Recently unveiled after more than nine months in the making, the complete collection includes the Sophie chair, the Franny side table, the Fenimore and Bobbie wicker coffee tables, the Bunny sofa, the Bennie bookcase and the Amy Scalloped console.
Okin and Society Social are also offering chinoiserie-patterned pillows based on work by artist Dawn Wolfe, with 10% of all proceeds going to No Kid Hungry to help provide food to children in need during the current pandemic.
The ottoman, sofa and swivel chair are also available in more than 60 fabric choices. Pricing for the furniture collection runs from $950 for the Franny side table to $4,995 for the Bunny sofa with the pillows retailing for $230.
