On Monday, Railways started taking booking for the special train between Mumbai Central and New Delhi, and within two hours all the seats were completely booked. The special train has been booked completely up to Sunday, May 18.
Railways had started booking for the train tickets on Monday at 6:00 pm and the tickets were available only on the Indian Rail Catering Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website. More importantly, no tickets could be booked under the waiting list category.. Tickets for May 18 were also booked completely by late Monday evening.
“The air-conditioned first, second and third-class tickets have been booked. There was a huge demand on the website,” said a Western Railway official.

“After temporary suspension of passenger trains in view of COVID-19, 1st Special train left Mumbai Central on 12/05/2020 for New Delhi, following all norms of lockdown i.e. masks, social distancing, sanitizers, thermal screening, etc. Divisional Railway Manager-Mumbai Division of Western Railway monitored arrangements with senior officers,” the rail corporation wrote.
The train will depart from Mumbai Central railway station at 5:30 pm and will be operated on a daily basis. The train will have 20 coaches and will have halts at Surat, Vadodara, Ratlam and Kota railway stations between Mumbai Central and New Delhi railway stations.
